Amnesia

"Intense, requérant, et nimbé d’une beauté mystérieuse…." Xavier Prévost

Jean-Christophe Cholet, piano solo

Jean-Christophe Cholet took advantage of the lockdown to set up several solo projects, recorded at home: improvised, thematic, prepared piano and multi-recording.

The first part, "Amnesia", brings together 14 unpublished improvisations recorded during the month of June 2020. The record will be released on October 16th (Infingo/L'autre distribution).

"Recorded at home during this period when the rhythm of the hustle and bustle remained suspended, Amnesia brings together improvisations guided essentially by the mood of privileged moments spent in the heart of an inspiring forest, far from the hustle and bustle of everyday, hectic life. No written notes, no constraints, no stakes, simply a raw play for a spontaneous and sincere music; the singular pleasure of having been able to touch the depth of a subject in all serenity. "Jean-Christophe Cholet, September 2020

"The pianist's limpidity and his welcome of the moment allow (...) a confidence and a modest astonishment to emerge in these reveries of suspended time" Louis-Julien Nicolaou / fff Télérama

"a very personal, intimate exploration, a delicate embroidery on time and absence (...) colourful, spirited improvisations, casting off a few moorings or more delicately impressionistic. Sophie Chambon / Les dernières nouvelles du jazz

"Jean-Christophe Cholet let himself go and improvised a spontaneous and sincere music. Pierre de Chocqueuse / Blog de Choc

"It is improvisation that is the master here, the pianist leaving room for abandonment and even silence, and therefore for poetry." Franpi Barriau / Citizen Jazz
